mierenjager This gave me a completely different understanding of how we're "supposed" to be playing music. This records throws out old standards and adds a feeling not out there yet, without delving too deep

thalasi Mindig a Kolorádó jut róla eszembe, az összes hozzácsapódott emlékkel együtt. Ez a mikrotonális törzsi zenebona képes valamit jól megfogni bennem. Favorite track: Mike The Headless Chicken .

Myalo+Patrizio M There is a true act of decolonization! Repeated rhythms and intervals absorb the listener in a ritualistic trip of ancestral forces and new beings. From ecstatic to solemn this album is a nice introduction to those unfamiliar with non western tuning.
Ben Hjertmann

Ben Hjertmann Intuitive, circumspect, anti-conformist, renewed.
Funk/Jazz/Blues in vivid Just Intonation tunings. Refretted electric guitars with pure septimal thirds. Saxophone, wind controller, fretless bass, and microtuned keyboards. Played with it's hair in the wind. This album is an ode to human potential, which shimmers with the joy of the unknown. Favorite track: Stupid Fucking White Man .

about

Inspired by non-European traditional musics, non-standard tuning systems, psychedelic ritual performances and the legendary Jon Hassell's Fourth World music, Decolonize Your Mind Society was founded by Balint Szabo Gosheven as a natural continuation of his creative focus and work. The band has an absolutely unique sounding thanks to the special instruments they use like the glissonic wind instrument or the refretted just intonation guitar, not to mention the retunable analog synthesizer that further expands their amazing musical planet. Just intonation music needs new approaches, new instruments and their effort on their debut seems quite extraordinary.

The band recorded the material during three days at Supersize Recording Studio in Budapest and came out with this funny, unique, crazy sounding and uplifting music. Despite the current apocalyptic state of the world they tried to celebrate life through the sheer joy of playing together and they would like to present these extremely colourful tunes to the public as a reminder that there is always a bright side of this amazing magical universe.

András Halmos - drums, vocals
Ernő Hock - double bass, vocals
Máté Pozsár - synth, una corda, vocals

about

Decolonize Your Mind Society Budapest, Hungary

The world heard through their music's lens may seem warped in relation to Eurocentric norms, but it never sounds arcane or frivolously decorative. (The Wire, Julian Cowley)
